Born Identity

Hello Madingga's.
We are starting a new and powerful series called the Born Identity. It focuses on the actual identity of Christ beyond the commercialized Jesus we see in TV this time of year. I think this series is going to sweep across Elevate students like Poggs on an Elementary school playground in 1993. The first night is going to be on the prophesized Messiah and what the Jews thought Jesus was going to be like. Instead of this "mighty" king on a golden chariot the world received an infant child born to a homeless teenage mother out of wedlock. Jesus' teaching were so contradictory, and his personality so out of the norm that there is now way history could have imagined Him into existence.

See you guys Wednesday night. Pauly

I think this sounds like a really cool series. I think it will be good for the 6th and 7th graders to learn about the history of Jesus and what his life was like. By learning more about Jesus, hopefully this will strenghten their relationship with God.

Leaders...Try walking through with your kids what this new perspective of Jesus was like during the time when he was on earth. Contrast Jesus' teachings with the ones of the Pharisees. Examples of these new teachings is John 8 about A women committing adultery and Matthew 9:10-13 about Jesus eating with notorious sinners. Help your kids visualize what the change was like for people at this time.

I love this idea because so often people think that Jesus is only the person in the manger and that he fulfilled everything that people thought he was suposed to when really it was completely different from what people where expecting.
